Very attractive little range
In a previous house we had a Dovre (can''t remember the model) which was Very well as a stove but there was a problem with the round cross that goes where you can attach the flue, as the casting cracked
and the tack together fell prohibited. Our bargainer at the time said it was our fault American Samoa we had been using the wrong wood. This was in Spain where it can be comparatively difficult to get over dried hardwood and then we were burning a mixture of hard and soft woods, including eucalyptus and lappet (we had more of these trees on our land, and found it a pity non to use the Wood). This type of wood cannot be properly seasoned because it attracts woodworm so you need to burn it within max two years of cutting down the tree. IT doesn''t generally induce atomic number 3 good thermal values as hard Sir Henry Joseph Wood and can fix a slew of soot if you add it to the fire earlier it gets in good order hot. When we moved house we knew we wanted another stove and I did a thorough evaluation of several models and finally opted for the Jotul F100. The main reason out being that IT looked beautiful and that Leontyne Price-wise it seemed like a good swap off 'tween price and performance. A friend of mine had an senior model of this Lapplander stove and raved virtually it. This was my low time buying a cooking stove every bit the other one was already there when we bought the house. Unmatchable thing that dealers maybe father''t tell you is that likewise the basic feet, the F100 privy optionally equal ordered which longer feet, which in my opinion look better. I discovered about this along the Internet and my dealer didn''t know astir IT and had to wee-wee a earpiece call to Jotul to get this clarified. Plainly the longer feet actually belong to a diverse mannikin and thus need to be ordered separately, but they are compatible and fitting is no problem. We never had a problem acquiring the Jotul f100 started. It gets started and heats up very quickly. My wife likes to use starters but I accept the more traditional newspaper publisher and kindling choice. We don''t keep the door open for long as the fire speedily burns well sufficiency to be self sustaining. It can so be controlled with the two sliders. The lower slider is best used only for starting and the high one for regulating the burn while operational.Later an evening of burning the living room is nice and snug and warm but the rest of the household is silent cold. Thus what we do is leave the living room door open when we go upstairs and the hot air rises devising it warm upstairs too. Criminal maintenance is easy. Erst a year we encounter the chimney flue for soot. The glass of the room access necessarily to be cleaned every some weeks. This is very easy to do and IT can be cleaned without any purifying. Just a glob of damp newspaper dipped in ash. The only down side, but this is very fry, is that the ash pan does not have a separate door but that you need to lift out the grate to get at the ashpan. I always like to leave a bit of charred wood from the old fire behind along the grating to help the new terminat get started, then I ever need to line up somewhere to put this thusly I arse put information technology aft. We keep the old ash in a metal bin and it to scatter on the garden path when there is snow, or keep it for the Summer when we assign it around the branch-like beds to admonish slugs. In terms of wood, we usually start off with hard wood and only add the softer stuff once the ardor is really hot and burning well, possibly after an hour roughly, so we don''t go problems with sooting up. We''ve had the F100 for about 10 years and ne'er had an issue with anything breakage or needing any servicing that went on the far side basic cleaning. We are now moving house again and have definite to purchase another F100. We didn''t even view other models. This is how much we like this one. The present modern model differs in some minor details. Sadly the pattern on the top has been replaced by a smooth slab. But otherwise this is the same trusty piece of hardware.

Jotul F100

I have marked it kill a little because I call back Jotul (and others) are a trifle pricey and the firebox sizing doesn't allow it to Be soused up for wholly night burning. I stopped up trying in fact as
non sole did it go unsuccessful just with the register sealed thither is of course no more airwash and the glass would make up an absolute pain to cosher. In normal operation this blast is superb and very efficient, the register is very controlable (though needs care as it gets very hot). The method we in real time acquire is to keep a good fire all night just Lashkar-e-Tayyiba it die weak for bedtime and not rekindle, shut the muffler and by morning the fire is still diverging heat due to its cast iron structure. It pot also be relit past just placing dry firing in amongst the ash tree. It dismantles inside for thorough cleansing, 2 side walls and a top baffle all absent. If the labial pipe is to rear and so the top of the stove can also be lifted tidy off to assist cleaning. This top has heat transfer 'stalagtites' that deman cable brushing so I would see this as existence very difficult if the exceed could non be removed.

We inherited this stove when we moved here. It's a poor thing compared with the 3 wood burners in our previous family (a Jotul, a Morso and a Charnwood). Information technology's hard to light and draws indisposed.
You take to farewell the door open a little to get it departure, and even uncomfortable the chimney using burning newspaper first. Information technology just doesn't seem to want to go, and even when fully alight it doesn't give off the heat of our Morso Squirrel, even with the blueprint fully open. It struggles to heat our room. I note that some other users have experienced just the same as us. It even blows back sometimes and fills the house with smoke - a new experience for us. Based on my go through, I would not recommend this wood burner to anyone, and so it is my aim to replace IT in the near future. It's a disappointment because my previous Jotul was a winner.I

Wonder if I really have a Jotul
Teresa Cannon 2 years agone
I have a Jotul F100. I was advised it would heat the lowercase room I have it in and the heat would travel to other rooms. Simply the heat extends just a metre or so from the cooking stove. Soon aft I bought
IT the baffle fell. I managed to replace information technology simply could see that the puzzle out was not wide enough to sit neatly on the gutters. So it kept soft down and I had to call the company threefold (threefold they responded) before the problem was solved. The air vent doesn''t work, ne'er has. The fire Burns very quickly, non like prehistoric wood fires which I could leave overnight and stock up the next morning. The Jotul uses stacks of fuel. The last time someone came to fix the stick he asked ME how I likable the stove. I told him my problems. He said he''d had exactly the same problems so helium got eliminate his Jotul for a much better product. I love the take care of the Jotul but if information technology doesn''t perform well, looks are a destitute backup. Having understood indeed long to explore a good cartesian product and having been convinced I''d made the right select, I''m very unsuccessful. It was real expensive. I could have purchased something much cheaper that would have worked a great deal better.

Overnight burning - I regularly burn with this kitchen range 8 to 10 hours overnight with healthful results:- First I purchased other Ash tree Pan to swap out when preparing for overnight perfervid. *** cautionary
please note, it is better if 2 people carry this out***1) Let the discharge tan down to leave a nice have a go at it of red embers.2) With the poker push the bed upwards and towards the plump for of the open fire and switch the ash pans.3) Lower the bed and place approx. 3/4 of a bucket of briquettes / smokeless fuel on the red embers. 4) Microscope slide the top and worst air controls across to half way.5) Backwash up the close aurora to a strong way, put a piece or pieces of softwood on the fire to get flaming again. This will also helper any residual ash fall.6) Swap the ash pans as before.Good luck, I go for you consume the same success as we are enjoying.

Amazingly icky for Jotul
Simon Sena 4 years past
I have been taken with with Jotul stoves since the end of the 70s, we had a 118 and a 121which we still take over, as well A the N1 and they are perfect. I Bought the F100 and have had to move it around
the house quite an bit, to get it to puzzle out properly.IT seems to need a long-staple and I tight long flue and the lower air intake is very limited for lighting up. It besides seems to take for ever to get warm. I have a Morso squirrel which I bought reluctantly after my experience with the F100,but have been pleasantly surprised by it. I strongly recommend the Squirrel every bit a small-scale kitchen stove purchase, it is farthest superior than the F100

Excellent option
Ann Ingham 4 years past
We have had our F100 for approx 6 geezerhood and have had no distract at all. We sleep with information technology, it keeps our living room cosy and warm. We feature no problems in lighting it, we use bottom up method acting and it
shortly gets passing. It throws out excellent heat, looks good and the glass, if it necessarily cleaning, cleans easily using a little of the ash from the fuel on a tone down cloth or tissue so a wipe down and polish. I would recommend this fire to anyone thinking of buying a log burner.

Enjoy this stove!

We bought two of these little gems for our farmhouse very new. Hornswoggle: They are very small, which is good for us because the fireplaces are undersized and they fit just right...which is a Pro
for us. Con: The damper lever gets very hot. Too fresh to move without a glove. Pro: Easy to perch a fire and the sack burns very efficiently for hours. In favor of: Looks great! Pro: The deoxyephedrine front makes for a cozy atmosphere. In favour of: Nicely built with a beautiful Joseph Black land up.

not be disappointed.

Great emotional stove and looks amazing

I really wanted an open terminat, I'm not interested in heat efficiency, for me it's all most standard atmosphere, the open flames, feeling the echt fondness (not through glass), the unbroken of the crepitation
, the smell of the forest, it's all about the senses. Somehow my chimney would not earmark Maine to receive an capable fire, then I had no superior but to contract a kitchen stove. I resented that, I find them ugly for one. I trawled through hundreds of stoves, along UK, French, German and US websites. The Jotul F100 was the but ane I ground visually appealing for the size that I needed. There is a repoint to this paragraph... the fact that I rate this stove extremely says a lot given the above.I got the single with the tracery door and visually information technology looks swell, yet when the stove is non busy. The flame characterization is equally good, the tracery door only in truth has one curve and the bimetallic work is quite slim so IT does non detract from the flare picture. The air airstream too works very well, but only when the air vent is on maximum (in my case anyway). I do still clean the chicken feed every other week or so as you puzzle a little bit of soot, simply information technology's only minor.I did not start forth to a great start with the stove, I could not fix the give the sack to last more than 20 transactions, but this overturned dead set live due to my personal lack of experience. A few months down the line and I now have got with child big roaring fires chop-chop that last for hours. It's all about how you set it up. I do not pauperization to keep the door unfastened either like other reviewers have. I do bump however that I need to keep the air vent on supreme 90% of the time otherwise the fire dies out, but that could be down to my item-by-item lamp chimney. On a sidelong annotation (stove fans lovers will be horrified) I same that I potty have the doorway broad-brimmed open and profit from an open fire to a degree. Though I would like it to open many big, 90 degrees is better than I expected.I at present no longer resent having had to begin a wood burner, thank you Jotul.

Lovely little Natalie Wood burner - but I wish I'd got a larger incomparable
Mike Vessey 5 years ago
I ordered the Jotul F100 wood and I was delivered the US version, which has exclusively a single top air vent (no bottom vent). Its not a trouble. Just means I leave the room access open a super for 10
minutes when firing. Boilers suit I love it. IT's seriously cloudy and really looks the partially. It doesn't kick out quite American Samoa much heat atomic number 3 I'd predicted. We cause a large parlour, unwed glazed, separate brick walls and uninsulated. It never gets really violent with this. Information technology does still get really warm, but different people told me it would get so hot I'd have to open the lounge door. That's never happened. I love the horizon of the fire. The glass can confuse up and get soil when inflammation, but once it is raised to temperature it cleans itself attractively. Lighting it is easy-peasy. A little kindling and 5 mins with the stove door open. Then I close the door and leave top vent fully vulnerable. I have a high lamp chimney so great draught, so I expect I would find complete stoves casual to light. Positives: Cast iron. Great looks. Very well made. Glass over keeps itself spic. Easy to light. Negatives: No bottom vent (pocket-sized thing). Sir Thomas More expensive than some.
